Country and State Selection Component

The country selection component in Teramine Forms allows you to require the users of your forms to pick a country from a dropdown, as well as a state or region. The user picks a country from the list, and the list of states for that country is automatically refreshed based on the selection. This allows error-free entry of country and state. This component can be used in the following forms:

  • Location of a user to provide a service - maybe you run a service connecting a plumber or electrician with a user. In this case, you need to ask for the user's location so you can send service personnel to their home.
  • Demographic information for some purpose.
  • Order placing forms usually require an address including the country and the state.
  • And many more.
Present the form user with a list of countries and states to choose from.

This video shows how you can use the Country Select component in Teramine Forms.

  • Create a new form by clicking the big Create New Form button.

  • Click Save Changes to save your changes to the component.
  • Back on the form preview page, click the name and change it to something suitable.
  • Save the form, publish it and you can now use it to verify that everything is correct, that the countries and states are being processed correctly.

Conclusion

The Country Selection component allows you to let your users pick a country and a state from drop-down lists. The user picks a country, and the state list is automatically populated for the country so errors in specifying the state is eliminated.

The Country Select component also allows you to restrict the user to one or more countries. Maybe you are collecting information from users in the US only, and would like to prevent arbitrary selection of a different country. See next video for how to do that.
