File Upload

Easily request multiple file uploads from your users

File upload is a very common form requirement. It can be used for various purposes including the following:

  • Requesting an image file to use as an account photo.
  • Asking job applicants to upload a resume and an optional cover letter.
  • Asking for additional paper work in the form of scans to verify identity.
  • Doctor's offices may need proof of insurance which they can request users to upload.
  • Any many more.

And here is how you can incorporate File Upload into your form at Teramine Forms.

  • Browse to the Forms page using the navigation header.
  • Click the big Create New Form button.
  • On the form configuration page, click the Add Widgets drop-down on the left, and select File Upload from the menu.
  • Adjust the labels to inform the user what files you are requesting and why.
  • You can use this widget for single file uploads as well as multiple file uploads.
  • For a single file upload, change the Type of file to upload to whatever type of file you need: including:
    • images (jpeg, png, gif, svg or any other type).
    • PDF documents.
    • Word documents including docx or doc.
    • Excel spreadsheets including xlsx and xls.
    • Power point presentations including ppt and pptx.
    • Any other type of file.
  • For requesting multiple files, set the Type of file to upload to Any other type.
  • To request multiple files, set the Min number of files to what you need. You can limit the number of files the user uploads using the Max number of files.
  • And that is all there is to it. Save the form and publish it to view your form.
  • In the file upload step, the form informs you about how many files are accepted. You can click the widget to begin uploading your files.
  • The files you have selected for upload are shown in a list below the file upload widget. You can delete a file from the upload list by clicking the delete icon.
  • Once you are finished uploading the files, you can click the Next button to continue.
  • The Next button will remain inactive till the required number of files have been uploaded.

And that is how easy it is to incorporate the File Upload widget into your form and request one or more files from the user.
